Photogenic Mountain Towns in Colorado

Salida, CO

Mountain town charm with plenty of room to roam. Salida is a perfect backdrop for portraits that feel relaxed, adventurous, and unmistakably Colorado. Between the Arkansas River, surrounding peaks, and quirky downtown character, there’s no shortage of ways to make your session feel like your own little adventure.

Breckenridge, CO

Big mountain energy, historic charm, and four-season adventure. Breck brings together dramatic alpine scenery and the cozy character of a classic mountain town. Whether you’re wandering Main Street, exploring the trails, or chasing golden light among the peaks, it’s an incredible setting for couples, families, and adventurous portraits. My personal favorite spot is on the Blue River trail down by the river.

Vail, CO

A little alpine elegance with a whole lot of Colorado. Vail is made for portraits that balance elevated style with wild mountain scenery. From the charming village to sweeping alpine landscapes, it’s a beautiful choice for couples, families, engagements, and anyone looking for photos that feel both timeless and adventurous.

Oh and there is a pirate ship!

Planning tips & FAQ

When’s the best time of year for taking photos in Mountain Towns in Colorado ?

Avoid sitting in I-70 traffic.

My favorite time to visit these towns is in the summer and the fall. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the fresh mountain snowfall in the winter, but I LOATHE the ski-resort traffic between Denver and the mountains that happens during the weekends in Colorado.

When's the best time of Day for taking portraits in a Colorado mountain town?

My favorite time is shortly after sunrise when the light is still golden and the townsfolk are still sleeping. I am also a big fan of grabbing breakfast after a shoot, before heading home for an afternoon nap.

If you're not a morning person, sunsets are pretty dope, too.

What should we wear or pack?

It depends on the vibes and the occasion. I love something a little cozy paired with comfortable boots, but we will finalize this on our introductory call.

Do we need a permit for photography?

Nope! Always be respectful to the locals. Often times if we are shooting inside of a business, I will give them a call ahead of time and make sure they are comfortable with our activities and get their opinion on the best time to come by.
