A Father's Day Photoshoot Fit for the Jedi Council
As a photographer, there are sessions that make you smile while you’re shooting—and then again while you’re editing, and again every time you think about them. This was one of those sessions.
This plan had been in the works since our first family portrait session last fall: a full-blown Star Wars family photoshoot, right here in Denver at Denver Photo Collective. Jedi robes, lightsabers, cosplay energy, and two incredibly excited little boys? I was so in.

Cosplay, Connection & Controlled Chaos
(The Best Kind)
When Mary, Caleb, and their boys arrived in full Jedi cosplay, I knew we were in for a treat. The boys couldn’t wait to draw their lightsabers and challenge Dad to a duel—it was pure, joyful chaos in the best possible way.

When asked if he was a Sith or a "Jedi", Z emphatically screamed Jedi, while his contrarian little brother shouted "SITH".

Why This Session Stood Out
I love family portraits that go beyond the posed smiles. This shoot was about creating memories—real, silly, honest ones. Mary and Caleb weren’t afraid to play, and their boys had the freedom to just be kids. That’s when the magic happens.
It’s easy to see the joy in the photos, but what made this shoot special was the energy in the room: the laughter, the pride in Caleb’s face as his sons “battled” him, the way Mary looked at her crew like they were the best people in the galaxy. (They are.)
Ready for Some Nerdy Family Portraits of Your Own?
If your family leans a little nerdy (or a lot), don’t be afraid to bring that energy into your portraits. Whether it’s Star Wars, superheroes, or your own unique family fandom, I promise—there’s a way to make it beautiful and fun.
This session took place at Denver Photo Collective, a bright and flexible studio space that gave us the perfect backdrop to go all-in on creativity.

Final Thoughts: May the Memories Be With You
This wasn’t just a photoshoot—it was a celebration. Of fatherhood, of imagination, of a family that clearly knows how to have fun together. It’s sessions like these that remind me why I do what I do.
So if you’re thinking about booking a Star Wars-themed family shoot in Denver, take this as your sign. Bring your robes. Bring your sabers. Bring your laughter.
I’ll bring the camera.
