Every engagement session tells a story—and for Cooper and Elsa, that story included a whole lot of fur, fun, and fetch. These two golden retriever siblings joined their humans for one of my favorite Colorado engagement sessions yet, and let me tell you… it was pure joy from start to finish.

Between Elsa’s nonstop tail wags and Cooper’s attempts to photobomb every kiss, the energy was irresistible. Getting everyone to look at the camera at once? Nearly impossible. But that’s part of the magic. Pets add authenticity—the kind of unfiltered happiness that no pose can replicate.

As an engagement photographer, I always tell couples: if your pets are part of your love story, they belong in your photos too. Whether you’re celebrating your engagement in the mountains, at home, or in the studio, bringing your pets adds a layer of personality and comfort that makes every frame more you.

3 Reasons to Bring Your Pets to Your Engagement Session

1. They Tell Your Story

Your pets are part of your everyday adventures—whether that’s hiking in the Rockies, cuddling on the couch, or greeting you at the door after a long day. Including them in your session captures a piece of your real, shared life.

2. They Break the Ice

Even the most camera-shy couples relax faster when their pup is around. Pets bring out natural laughter, connection, and playfulness, helping you forget about posing and just enjoy the moment.

3. They Make the Photos Uniquely Yours

Let’s be real—no two dogs (or cats, or bunnies!) behave the same. Those candid, unscripted moments—like Cooper sneaking a lick mid-photo or Elsa bribing the bartenders for a treat—make your images genuinely one-of-a-kind.

Pro Tip: Bring Treats, Patience, and a Sense of Humor

Engagement sessions with pets are wonderfully unpredictable. Sometimes that means a few extra minutes for sniff breaks or a slobbery tennis ball tossed between takes—but the reward is worth it: timeless portraits full of personality, love, and laughter.
